FLASH INFO : CHANGE OF THE COURSE

Amendment No. 2 to the Sailing Instructions, published today at 12:00, modifies the course as presented last Saturday at the start briefing. The out-and-back leg to Lundy Island in the Celtic Sea has been removed; the competitors will therefore sail directly from the southwest tip of England (Wolrock Lighthouse) to the mark off Portsall; the rest of the course remains unchanged. The development of the very strong low-pressure system expected Tuesday and Wednesday in the Western Channel led to this decision; while the leaders could hope to pass Lundy Island back to the southwest tip of England in manageable conditions, this was not the case for the last boats. It is with this in mind, to preserve the safety of the entire fleet, that this modification was decided. As we have seen since the start, the race remains superb and fiercely contested for the 22 Class40s.
